Concert Preview: Where Will Freelance Whales Rock For The Kids In Chicago?

Remember when we explored your emotions and secret shows?

Well, we’ve got another exciting and intriguing concert preview here that combines a little bit of both of those experiments.

Starting today we’ll be gradually pulling back the curtain on how you can get in on the action and donate to a worthy cause via Eventbrite’s “Concert Confidential” series.

Eventbrite is cool site that helps you organize and get info on all types of events, especially live shows. And this special Confidential Concert series they’re hosting this weekend is taking place in 5 cities (Chicago, New York, Dallas-Fortworth, Los Angeles and San Francisco) on one night Saturday September 17, with each show benefiting a local charity and featuring a top indie-rock band.

Who’s Playing in Chicago?

Today we’re excited to reveal the first part of the “confidential” info which is that New York-based quintet Freelance Whales will be playing the Chicago edition. And like we mentioned the last time the band came through Chicago, we’re looking forward to soaking up and getting entranced by their alluring and blissfully eerie mix of folk, electronica and orch-pop.

What’s the Cause?

We’re also excited about the show because it will benefit our friends at Rock for Kids. You can listen to our chat with Kyle from RFK as he tells the story behind the non-profit’s mission and shares his favorite concert memories live at Pitchfork 2010.

How Do You Donate?

The last bit of info is that the show is free, and you’ll have a chance to donate to Rock for Kids at you walk in the door via Eventbrite’s new At the Door iPad app.

Where’s the Show?

I knew you’d ask that.

We’d love to tell you but for now that’s all the info we’ll be sharing for now.

Be sure to check back each day this week as we reveal where the show is taking place and how you can get tickets through Eventbrite.

All I can say now is that the venue is intimate and one of our favorite places to see an indie-rock show in Chicago.

UPDATE 9/14:

Okay, here’s the next piece of info you’ve all been waiting for…

The show is taking place at The Empty Bottle, 1035 Western Ave, Chicago.

And starting tomorrow 9/15 you can scoop up tickets here.

What’s Your Secret?

Have you seen the Freelance Whales live? Have you been to a secret show? Have you used Eventbrite before? Tell us about your favorite “confidential” concert memories in the comments below and we’ll share your experiences during a future episode of Live Fix Radio.
