I hope you’ve had a great week so far, and I hope you have a most excellent time at shows this weekend too.
To get your weekend kick-started, here’s some free downloads and concert news featuring gems from Grape Juice Records, Miles Davis, Wolfgang’s Vault and a preview of Lissie at Lincoln Hall.
Lissie at Lincoln Hall
During Perez Hilton’s One Night Stand Pre-lolla show, we got lost in the live performance of Chicago-native Lissie. And tomorrow night at Lincoln Hall fans will have the chance to take in another emotive moment of live music as she rolls back into town with plans to unfurl another gritty and gorgeous set blending rock, folk, pop, country and blues track from her debut album Catching a Tiger (iTunes link).
The pre-Lolla show and the video we took was a special one because we had the chance to see Lissie’s mom proudly enjoy the show as she stood right behind us with a massive smile of pleasure on her face.
If you’re heading out to the Lissie show tonight let us know how it goes and be sure see how you can tell your story below.
Grape Juice Records: Friends & Family
Back in December, Chicago-based Grape Juice Records released a free Friends & Family II compilation of Americana, rock, blues and power-pop tunes. It’s an exciting collection of music that reminds me of the fun we had at the Chicago Bluegrass and Blues Festival and it’ll give you a solid sonic preview of some Chicago bands to watch for in 2011.
Here’s a list of the artists on the compilation, which you can get check out right here.
Jon Drake & The Shakes
Julie Meckler
Will Phalen
Rachele Eve
Musikanto
