Last week, Scottish post-rock band Mogwai released their new live album Special Moves and first-ever live concert film Burning.
For the last few months the group has been sharing clips of Burning on their YouTube channel and other places, including a live online screening via Ustream with a Q&A chat where fans could ask the film’s director and the band questions in real-time.
And now you can check out the film at select public screenings.
After checking out the teaser clips, I’m excited to see how the film captures the power and force of Mogwai‘s sublimely thunderous live show.
Burning was shot at Mogwai’s sold-out three night residency at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg in April 2009, which has been the location for several of my recent virtual concert experiences, so I’m also looking forward to seeing how director Vincent Moon and Nathanael Le Scouarnec, who also worked on La Blogotheque’s Take-Away Shows, capture the emotion of the fans getting lost in the waves of sound and sonic pleasure.
We’ve explored Blogotheque’s concept before and wondered if they re-define what a concert really is, so I’m super curious to see how Burning’s story unfolds on screen.
