Soulified Wilco covers celebrating anniversaries. Exploding Chicago bands. Thoughts on Congress. Best-concert-ever Farewells. Manipulated Concert Fans. Free Bhangra Downloads. Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo updates. Did you catch it all?
Every week is a busy week here at Live Fix. But this week was extra special in the busy department. Don’t believe me? Check out the posts below and you’ll see what I mean.
Last Week’s Posts:
JC Brooks and the Uptown Sound helped Gapers Block celebrate their 7th anniversary. Were you there? We were and the soul band did a fine job of moving and grooving us at the Metro on Friday night. Check out the post to see their swingin’ cover of Wilco’s “I’m Trying to Break Your Heart.”
Is there such a thing as an exploding band that puts on explosive shows? Well, according to one my favorite interviews on Live Fix with The Kickback, there just might be.
Seth Godin has a way of saying things. And he spurred me on to ask if Concert Fans Enjoy Being Manipulated?
Rock critic Jim leaves his post at the Chicago Sun-Time and says goodbye by sharing his best concerts ever. And I was surprised by some of his picks. Are you?
Bhangra beats are really fun to dance to at a club, especially at the Funky Bhudda Lounge. And a FREE mixtape download of Bhangra music makes things even better. Did you get yours?
Updates For Your Wrap-Up Pleasure:
St. Bagu’s Thoughts On Congress
Following up our interview with Chicago hip hop group St. Bagu in which we discussed their very first live show, here’s a snippet from Tony, one of the band’s vocalists, as he reflects after their performance.
“…I learned a few things first hand that night. One of them being, a truly passionate and talented band doesn’t make excuses, they make improvements! In other words a band shouldn’t let their circumstance dictate what they do. So sure the sound and acoustics were off in the mighty tall room. Heck every band knew this was coming in sound check. However should that hurt us and keep us from putting on a genuine heartfelt live show? NEVER!”
Bonnaroo Announces Schedule, Full Line-up
Heading to Bonnaroo? Then you’ll want to check Bonnaroo’s full line up announcement.
Lollapalooza Expands by 20,000
According to Greg Kot’s report, Lollapalooza will add up to 20,000 more capacity to its usual 75K from last year. Judging by Kot’s report the festival will expand across Columbus Drive. If Lollapalooza gets any bigger, will it become a camping festival? Will a larger more expansive Lollapalooza give fans the option of pitching a tent in the surrounding parks instead of heading to hotels or hopping the train to go home for the night?
That’s it folks. Stay tuned for more this week including a Tim Fite review, after his recent parole and free download album Under the Table Tennis. And we’ll share a special LOST-centric Live Fix post to celebrate the final episode. However it turns out.
