primus 3d tour

Looks like our 3D concert exploration just got some more fodder thanks to Primus.

Yep. According to the Primus website:

Primus will embark on the first-ever traveling 3D-enhanced musical performance this fall. Featuring two sets per evening, each show will also boast Quad Surround Sound.

Tour dates are below and until Primus tosses us more info, let’s share some stories.

What do you hope to experience and not experience during the 3D tour? How can bands mix in 3D without taking away from the music?  Will this be similar to the Tupac hologram experience?

Some more 3D experiment fodder to stoke your imagination:

Primus fans, tell us about your favorite favorite concert moments and we’ll share them on a future episode of Live Fix Radio.

Will This Be The Dirtiest 3D Super Bowl Halftime Show Ever?

Standard

I hope. And to be honest ever since I lost my Bears vs. Packers Metro bet with my cousin Matt, I really don’t care who wins. But with the Black Eyed Peas as the Halftime show entertainment and learning about their BEP 3D 360 mobile app, I’m looking forward to the musical part of tonight’s Big Game, just so I can hear one dirty song.

Does Your 3D Concert DVD Wish List Look Like This?

Standard

Like we did last week, it’s time once again to dream about concerts in 3D.

But in this exploration, we’re going to dive a little deeper and wonder about “remastered” Blu-ray concert DVDs, and do some virtual time traveling as we dream about the ultimate 3D concert wish list.

Will 3D TV Change Your Live Concert Experiences?

Standard

Last year, we started to explore 3D concerts. And you learned how AEG Live was redefining the 3D concert experience in 2010.

And now with the advent of 3D TV, it’s time to dream about the possibilities as Lady Gaga and other artists begin to unveil their live show on 3D Blu-ray, so you can experience their concerts like never before at home.

Larger Than Life: AEG’s 3D Concert Series

Standard

Last Fall I got real excited about AEG Live’s 3D concert series. Then in December I went to see Larger Than Life in 3D with Dave Matthews, Gogol Bordello and Ben Harper at ACL Festival. And I wasn’t so excited afterward. Then I went to see Avatar a week later. Then I realized why I wasn’t so excited. So will things be different for the other 3D concerts this summer?

What Is The Future Of The Super Bowl Halftime Show?

Standard

Okay, I’ve had just about enough of this post-Super Bowl Halftime show letdown. And it seems like the halftime show gets safer and more predictable each year. It’s almost like the NFL and CBS suffer from some kind of leftover PTSD from Nipplegate. So what was missing and who should play next year? Will 3D and augmented reality (or you) change the future of the Big Game halftime show?
