I haven’t quite figured out why, but one of my favorite songs of the year is Cee-Lo Green’s “F*ck You,” the lead single from his latest album The Lady Killer. And today in an interview with the Associated Press on Livestream, Green will talk about the album, the hit track and his personal ambitions related to live performance in Vegas.
Though The Lady Killer is not a complete sonic or conceptual surprise knowing his solo history and work with Danger Mouse as the Gnarls Barkely duo, nonetheless the album is a solid solo effort from Cee-Lo Green.
After a few trips though it this week, what I like about the album so far, is that it’s somewhat of a crazy and fun concept album that explores the adventures and romantic love affairs that bloom, fade and come crashing down in clublife.
Besides having a lot of great grooves and bass-line nods to Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean, The Lady Killer mixes humorous metaphor with realism. And the way that Green tells the story makes the mysterious journey an entertaining ride filled with his unique blend of swooning and swinging soul, hip hop and funk.
That said, I’m looking forward to hearing what the soulful crooner/rapper has to say to the Associated Press about the album and the future of Gnarls Barkely. But more importantly, I’m curious to hear more about his dream to have his own Las Vegas show.
We’re pleased to bring you another Livestream event and I hope you enjoy today’s too.
