Now, the Grammys might not be my favorite award show for representing the best in popular music, but at least they’ve got the right idea when it comes to making an online experience that’s focused on the fans. And now they have a prestigious award to show for it, too.
This week the 2010 Webby Award winners were announced and among the winners was the “We’re All Fans” experience for the 2010 Grammys. The interactive and social experience took home the People’s Voice Award for the Best Visual Design – Aesthetic. And rightfully so.
Back in February, I shared with you my experience with “We’re All Fans” and mentioned that it was a pretty cool way to merge fans’ musical taste with the award show. Props to the TBWA\Chiat\Day agency for giving the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards the creative direction they needed and the type of experience the fans deserved.
Now, I won’t be holding my breath, but let’s hope the Grammys selection process for 2011 will be as cutting-edge as their online experience was in 2010.
What did you think of the “We’re All Fans” experience?
